09NovComments: when and how to respond to them?

I’m just curious as to when other bloggers return their comments and what they think is the best way to return them.

I always wait until I write a new post before returning comments so those I comment on have a fresh post to read when they click on my name, but how soon do you return your blogs comments, how and.. why do you do it that particular way?

I know a lot of bloggers respond as soon as they read a comment via email or even the normal return site comment. I’ve thought about doing this (the email part at least), even tried a plugin or two.. none of which worked and I’m just curious how you guys go about emailing responses.

Do you have a plugin you use for the job or do you manually copy and paste each commenters email address into the compose screen of your inbox?

If I could find a plugin that enabled me to email comment responses I’d use it all the time but all the plugins I’ve found have been for normal ‘quick’ mail or just enabling me to type a normal comment response in the admin panel of WordPress without having to leave said admin panel.

The latter of those two plugins isn’t too bad but in order for it to really do its job the commenter I’m responding to would need to be subscribed to the comments of that particular post.

Yes, yes I know there’s yet another plugin to send an email to unsubscribed people when I respond to their comment but who wants to use two separate plugins to do a single job? Not me and not most of the bloggers I know across the web.

Obviously those plugins weren’t, and aren’t, what I’m looking for.. so, do you know the plugin I’m searching for? If so please be kind and shove a link to it in my face.

Until I figure that plugin out I think I’m going to mosey over to WordPress.org and drop a suggestion into the box for the next release.

I’d really like to see an option in the comment moderation area that allows us to respond to a comment via email or normal comment. WordPress has so many other features but from the interactive standpoint, I think those two features would be highly useful.

More ways to respond and connect with our readers = more return readers + more comments + more link love + okay, you see where I’m going with this one. It would be highly beneficial, don’t you agree?

Let’s have a show of comments, hands and any other appendages that stick out of who would like to see these two features popped into WordPress’ already numerable feature list!

And for god’s sake, no penises or boobies please, I’m not into peep shows.. at least not today

09NovHow addicted are you to reality tv?

Sponsored Post:

Apparently I need to brush up on my reality tv shows, but how addicted are you and what reality tv shows do you like to watch?

I like to watch America’s Next Top Model sometimes but does that even count as reality tv? I’m not really into the other shows that much though my nanny and Cody go nuts for them. Their current favorite would have to be Dancing with the Stars.. not my cup of tea.

I’d much rather sit and watch some Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: CI or Nip/Tuck.. Nip/Tuck being my absolute favorite tv show ever.

I do like the goofy reality shows featured on vh1 though. Shows like ‘Rock of Love’, ‘I Love New York’, ‘The Hogans’ and the new one with tela tequila (or whatever her name is). It’s more for the laugh factor than any actual viewing enjoyment. I find the people straggling for a celebrity date to be insanely funny as you can never tell what they’re going to do and you know more than half of them are faking everything they do when the cameras are rolling. Minus the Hogans, I actually do like that show

The singing bee wasn’t too shabby either, at least in the humor department. A world famous song + random non-singing-talented-people = major laughability!

So where do you stand on the side of reality tv, do you like it, dislike it, think it’s ‘real’, think it’s rigged, love it, hate it… ?

06NovIn the land of Ultracet

My Vampire Avi With my recent migraines and the halloween activities over at Gaia Online I went a little lazy with my blog again.

But in my defense, it really isn’t a good idea to blog while in the land of ultracet. While it takes away the migraine and relaxes the body it also puts me in la la land.

The first night I had to take one I sat in my desk chair squeezing a half-full bottle of aquafina water giggling like a kindergartener when someone farts in the lunch line.

The second time I had to take it found me sitting in my grandmother’s recliner digging trash out of my purse and kicking my feet (it’s what us short people do in recliners okay?) while they went on a trip to wal*mart to find some migraine medication that wouldn’t make me act like a two year old on mass amounts of crack.

Warm, fuzzy, floaty, tingly, sleepy.. all those words and more can be used to describe the way ultracet effects me. The only upside was the black and white dots and shooting pain was wiped away for a few hours.

I’m still dealing with the migraines, trying to catch them before they can catch me but it’s a tedious and very un-rewarding process. I’ll deal with them until they go away but I wouldn’t expect too many posts from me during this time as it’s just too hard, and painful, to focus.
