Simple Peanut Butter Cornflake Drops

Melissa @ 5:39 am (Recipes)

Tired of making cookies but have an ache for something sweet? Or maybe you’re just bored with the convensional snack attack food that’s normally on hand.

The recipe below is a quick fix for both problems and though it might sound a little strange I assure you it tastes fantastic and will suit any sweet loving, peanut butter eater you can find!

You will need:
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of light korn syrup
1 1/2 cups of peanut butter
4 cups of corn flakes

Peanut Butter Cornflake Drops

Directions:
Bring sugar and light korn syrup to a light boil stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter until melted.

Stir in 4 cups of cornflakes then drop mixture onto a cookie sheet or wax paper by teaspoonfuls.

Let cool and enjoy!

Note: Don’t be afraid to play with this recipe. It’s very simple and there are a ton of sweet and crunchy things you can add into the mix to make it that perfect snack for you.

Try adding a sprinkling of semi-sweet chocolate chips or a handful of chopped walnuts. Whatever tickles your pickle! Just be sure to ferret away a few of the finished products before your loved ones snatch them up

Mario Badescu Skin Care Samples

Melissa @ 6:51 pm (Reviews)

Mario Badescu Skin Care Samples

After taking a short questionnaire pertaining to my skin type and skin issues I was sent a nice little package filled with recommended product samples to test and play with.

The package contained a total of six product samples: Enzyme Cleansing Gel, Special Cucumber Lotion, Hyaluronic Eye Cream, Aloe Moisturizer SPF 15, Drying Mask & Strawberry Face Scrub along with an application guide and product catalog.

After using the samples for two days my skin is super soft. My complexion is brighter and more colorful where it used to be dull and pale and any blemishes I had or was starting to get prior to testing are now non-existent.

It even cleared away a few stubborn blackheads that had been annoying me for years.

While I don’t like the smell of the products due to them not having any fake fragrances in them (which is a good thing because fake fragances irritate sensitive skin) I love the way they work.

I have super sensitive skin and these products don’t bother me at all. No tacky residue, burning sensation or dry skin.

The best part is that it has lasting results.

All the other products I’ve tried have left my skin feeling smooth after application but my skin would feel the same as it did prior to application within a few hours but with Mario Badescu at work my skin stays nice, soft and smooth after application and far beyond.

I couldn’t believe how soft my skin felt when I woke up the next morning.

My favorite product out of the pile has to be the Drying Mask. It stinks to high heavens because it uses sulfur as an ingredient, but boy oh boy does it work. It’s really a spot treatment but I figured for my first go round I’d do a full facial mask with it instead.

Before I applied it I had a raised area on the right side of my nose that had been driving me crazy for weeks and by the time I rinsed it off it was half the size it used to be and get this… The next morning it was completely gone!

I would have preferred the drying lotion but I’m more than happy with the mask and since it’s a spot treatment the sample they sent me will last me for months.

My second favorite of the bunch is the Strawberry Face Scrub. It’s a super thick, super gentle exfolient that uses strawberry seeds to buff away dead skin cells.

You only use it 2-3 times a week and it doesn’t take much to get the job done so this is another sample that will last me for a little while. It also brings some color to your complexion which is a nice little bonus.

Are these products magical? No, but they do work and there aren’t any harsh chemicals, dyes or fragrances to mess with my skin.

Mario Badescu gets a big A++ in my book and I fully intend to save up a little cash and get the full sized versions of the samples they sent me.. and a few other products.

I highly recommend these products to anyone but especially for those out there who have sensitive skin like I do.

Mild yet super effective, these are the products you’ve been searching for!

Glade plugins are the devil

Melissa @ 2:50 pm (Daily Life, Family & Friends, Rants & Raves)

For the past few months I’ve been having major vision problems due to allergies. Not pollen or animal allergies but.. smelly stuff allergies.

I share an apartment with my mother who just doesn’t seem to understand the concept that I’m allergic to overly smelly things. Glade plugins and anything vanilla are my two worst allergy causers. Though real vanilla doesn’t bother me, I can even eat and digest it normally. I just can’t smell the man-made smelly kind.

So off and on my eyes have been swelled shut, watering, burning, itching, my nose dripping like a faucet or stopped up to the point where I look like I’m in constant awe of something in order to collect oxygen in my lungs.

I knew this morning when I woke up that she’d put something new in the apartment as I couldn’t see anything and focusing was out of the question. Hell, my vision is still impaired at the moment and it’ll be a few hours before it comes back to me in full swing but at least I’m not hurting anymore.

I searched the apartment top to bottom to find the smelly implant she’d left to no avail, thank god she stumbled (not literally) home a little bit ago and I interrogated her forcing her to reveal the plugin hiding spot behind a wing-backed chair in her bedroom.

The label you ask? French vanilla.. my two worst allergy causers rolled into one evil plugin.

I really hope she’ll figure out she cant keep burning those things around me. It’s so bad that the contraptions can’t be anywhere in the apartment, not even in the living room. They straight up fuck me up, for lack of better words and terminology.

Glade – kiss my ass, you make evil things for mentally unstable people to torture me with *growls*

And yes, my mother is mentally unstable, quite literally but that’s a story, or should I say novel series, for another day.

For now I’m just happy to be able to see, let’s see how long it lasts before she drags something new home this time.

Hamster Mail

Melissa @ 1:49 pm (Kritter Kabob, Shopping)

I’m looking at an oober cute hamster cage on ebay for Catnip.

Her cage is old and starting to slowly fall apart, it’s been a good cage and lasted me nine years through a total of one deer mouse and two dwarf hamsters but it’s time for a replacement.

The problem is the new cage I’m looking at has bars. Catnip is only two inches long and can squiggle through a tightly closed fist. She’s a robo hamster which in lamens terms = the smallest hamster you can get. She’s beyond tiny.

So I had to email the seller of said cage to request that they measure the spacing between the bars. The cage is nice, it’s tall with two stories a sleep house, water bottle, food dish, wheel and pull out cleaning tray but safety always comes first.

Now I’m just waiting on a response and I really hope they humor me in my request as I really want this cage, it’s a good size. More than enough room for catnip to romp around in and the price is phenomenal coming to a total of $22.15 including shipping. You can’t beat that, literally. If you go to a pet store you won’t find a cage lower than $35.00 and the size of those cages are nothing compared to this one unless you convert a fish tank.

*crosses her fingers* here’s hoping Catnip will get her present. Wish me luck!
