Well, I finally figured out why our electricity bill was high…
It seems the guy in the apartment directly behind us thought it would be okay to hook into our meter box and use our electricity.
We went into the empty apartment beside his looking for an outlet cover when we noticed he had an extension cord hooked up to our box.
No wonder it’s been taking all my money to pay our bills.
Well.. he won’t be doing it for awhile. I made Barry pull the plug and cut the tip off so he couldn’t re-plug the cord. The next time I find him stealing our electricity the cops will be called and he can go to jail where he belongs. We already pay for all the hot water for three apartments, we can’t afford to pay for someone else’s electricity, and we shouldn’t have to either.
We pay $475 for this rinky dink apartment, pay for everyone’s hot water and we pay for the extra room in the apartment next to us which should be ours but isn’t. The lady next to us pays $500 + for her apartment and what does this deadbeat pay for his? $135.. how the hell is that fair or logical when his apartment is a mirror image or our own?
I guess the fact that he runs drugs for the landlord is explanation enough but that doesn’t make it fair. If everyone else can pay their bills he can too.
I really hope our voucher comes through soon, I hate living here. A drug selling landlord is definitely not something I wish to be associated with. The house itself is a piece of shit to begin with. There’s a hole in the roof, the floorboards are rotting out from underneath us, there’s next to no space for anything, there’s mold in the ceiling and the landlord thinks it’s okay to unlock your door and walk into your apartment any time he wants with no prior notice what-so-ever.
Definitely not my idea of a good place to live.
In either case I’m glad I found and took care of that extension cord. I’m sorry but I don’t pay electric bills for crack addicts, or anyone else for that matter. You want electricity, you pay for it because I don’t have that kind of money and quite frankly it isn’t my job. If you’re that bad off go to the local shelter and let them help you.

On the plus side I got a super-cute Halloween card from Bubs filled with goodies. I must say it really did brighten my day. With all the crap and money issues I’ve been dealing with lately a little reminder that good people still exist was sorely needed, so thank you Bubs!

That is ridiculous!! I would make that guy pay you for all of the electricity he’s been using! That is illegal! And I can’t believe that about your landlord. Sounds like a dork. Why do you have to pay for everyone’s hot water?

Sounds like you live in a real screwed up place. I did too until a couple weeks ago when my mom finally moved us out of there. Can’t you call anyone to report this, or do you not want to (like it might cause more trouble than you’ve already got), or it won’t do any good?
Argh, Wth? What a pain in the arse (your neighbour… and landlord it seems). The plus side is now your neighbour will get an electricity bill he’s not expecting and you can witness the shock on his face muahaha!

WHAT?!?! That’s insane! Why are YOU paying for other people’s hot water? Is that what your rent goes towards? Or are people leeching off of your pipes? I would seriously, seriously file a complaint with someone. I think there’s actually some sort of landlord - tenant code, at least there is where I live. I would look into it and see what can and should be done about this situation….

Dont feel bad though I just found out we’re paying 1,400 a month for an ILLEGAL appartmet. He has no right to charge us anything for this place (so i found out) & Id love to stop paying rent & tryto have us evicted o kicked out. Cause I could legally sue his ass for EVERY cent we’ve paid to him for this place cause we should have never been paying at all. My landlord is a nice guy but thats straight bullshit!

you guys should sue the landlord. Legally even if you sue him he can not evict you guys cause he is illegally making you py for other people’s water, over charging you rent, etc. gah..stupid people
